William A. Banks, M.D., F.A.C.E., is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, and is a co-inventor of the Company's antisense drug technology. Dr. Banks has 31 years of experience as a researcher, his first published work resulting from work as an undergraduate begun at the age of 20. Dr. Banks received his MD from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1979, did his clinical training at Tulane, a career development award at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center-New Orleans, and is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.

Dr. Banks is currently Staff Physician and Principal Investigator at the VA in St. Louis and a Professor in the Division of Geriatrics, Department of Internal Medicine and in the Department of Physiological and Pharmacological Sciences at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Banks has authored over 300 non-abstract publications, is a world expert on blood-brain barrier, and is editor-in-chief of Current Pharmaceutical Design.
